3-in-1 is a unique game in golf because in every round, instead of rotating teams every six holes, the games are changed. So, three games are played in one round, hence the name. It can be played in teams of two or individually in a group of 4. A common variation for 3-in-1 for teams is to play the first six holes in better ball, the next six holes in alternate shot, and the last six holes in 2-man scramble format. The partners remain the same throughout the game, but the scoring system changes according to the game being played.
